Pardon our absence on Sundays, lately.
On the first Sunday of 2018 we would like to emphasize our ongoing commitment to showcasing artists who take the time to submit their art to us.
Our 2018 Submission Sundays schedule consists of monthly submission posts starting January 21 and monthly live performances starting January 28.
As has become customary for Submission Sundays, anyone and everyone who submits art to us via submissions@hustlegrade.com will be eligible for online posting. Anything that is posted is then eligible for participation on our live Submission Sundays event.

Please send us your art, in whatever form it may be in.
Poets, writers, speakers, musicians, painters, sculptors, designers, any and everything that may be part of the creative spectrum.

We appreciate everyone who shares their art with us and look forward to sharing it with the world as part of Hustlegrade.

Submit anything you create to submissions@hustlegrade.com and direct everyone you know to do so as well! We respect your art and will not use it outside of Submission Sundays postings or events without your direct permission.

Below is a look at our past Submission Sundays. Here’s to 2018 and endless growth and progression of our mission to build a self-sustaining community for creatives.

SUBMISSION SUNDAYS: VOLUME 17

Happy Sunday. You may have thought that we fell off on our commitment to this Submission Sundays life but, how wrong you are. As with all aspects of life, finding more efficient processes is always the goal. So here goes... From now on, Hustlegrade will be posting Submission Sundays ONCE A MONTH, the Sunday before our installment of Submission Sundays LIVE. As soon as the monthly Submission Sundays post is published, our Hustlegrade team will vote on 3-5 artists to perform at Submission Sundays LIVE.

As before, only music sent to submissions@hustlegrade.com is eligible to be included in Submission Sundays.

Not much has changed except for the frequency of Submission Sundays posts via hustlegrade.com., and the actual posts will look a bit different than before. We will still go through EVERY submissions email we receive and post the same amount of content as we have in the past, it will just be concentrated into one post per month.

To offer a little more insight, lessening the frequency of Submission Sundays post is going to give our staff more time and ability to curate full articles featuring creatives, those who are included in Submission Sundays and all others. Submission Sundays posts will be succinct and specifically used as a conduit for sharing music we love and getting new music to listeners!

You may notice that our Submission Sundays posts are not as long and detailed before but this is intentional. Hustlegrade will utilize our LOOK and LISTEN pages for more in depth articles regarding some of the content in our Submission Sundays posts!

We hope all that makes sense, feel free to contact us if you have questions or would like more info!

On to the cool stuff... We are excited to announce our October installment of SUBMISSION SUNDAYS LIVE! will take place on Sunday, October 29 at Alley Kat Bar & Lounge. Mark your calendars, we will announce the lineup in the next day or two!

Now, on to Volume 17 of SUBMISSION SUNDAYS! (Yes, the layout is a little different, the music is just as good though!!)

Use the arrows to scroll through this month's SUBMISSION SUNDAYS features! If you are viewing on a mobile device, turn your phone sideways to read all about each feature!
You will find music from Show Louis, O.N.E., Eric Biddines, Anti-Lilly & Phoniks, Picture My Vision Entertainment, Cal Wayne, Kendall, IKE!, Lee-Lonn, Mike Checc and DJ Tru Blu!

Again, thank you for all of your support and come back for a TON of new content we have rolling out.

We are working to provide more and better coverage for all creatives and their art, we will have more posts via our LOOK and LISTEN pages this week featuring some of the artists in this post, and more! If you sent us something and have NOT seen it posted on the website, it may be in the queue for posting outside of our Submissions posts but please send it to us again or contact us directly if you would like!

Keep sending us your art via submissions@hustlegrade.com

See you Sunday, October 29 at Alley Kat for SUBMISSION SUNDAYS LIVE!

Listen: The Summer League Champs Podcast Episode 12: The Jay-Von Show

PDUB - Personal

With only his second official track release, PDUB once again comes with the amazing vocals and raw emotion on "Personal". With production from MikeWill and Jonquel, "Personal" is just that, personal. As hell. The track showcases PDUB's soul shaking crooning and kind of makes me want a bottle of wine. Anyway, words don't do this track justice so, go give it a listen.

Keep up with PDUB on social media.

Listen: PDUB - Personal

BreakItDownDC - Bad Habits

First of all, if you haven't heard BreakItDownDC's latest, self-titled album go listen to it NOW!
Now that we established that, DC recently released "Bad Habits", an ethereal, almost way too honest warning to a woman that she may want to stay away. As he transitions between singing and rapping, DC illustrates a reality that plenty of us deal with.

Keep up with BreakItDownDC on social media and go get "Bad Habits" now.

Listen: BreakItDownDC - Bad Habits

SUBMSUN082717 (1).png

Jay-Von - Be Heard

Jay-Von has yet to let us down whether it be curating dope playlists or showing support; but little he does compares to his pure rapping ability. Once again, Jay-Von and the Picture My Vision Entertainment team have released a no holds barred single, Be Heard. The bar filled, gritty track compares Von to the south, itself and appears on the newly released "Picture My Vision Mixtape Pt 1. After you listen to Be Heard go check out the entire mixtape, you will not be disappointed.

Listen: Jay-Von - Be Heard

R.I.K. VIITH - Elevated Ethics Vol. 2

With his second volume of "Elevated Ethics" R.I.K. VIITH comes together with artists from New Orleans, Louisiana in an amazing showing of lyricism, talent and unity; in true New Orleans style. From the content to the production, "Elevated Ethics Vol. 2" showcases the depth of R.I.K. himself as well as his peers. While all the features are perfectly placed, KVNGDAVID (FKA C.I.T.Y. Chronicles) and XXL definitely standout and complement R.I.K. immaculately on L.A. and Memoirs, respectively. There is not one lull  on "Elevated Ethics Vol. 2", with each track boasting more and more bars. Even with the features placed just right, R.I.K. VIITH's flow throughout the well put together, impressively cohesive project sits atop everything that makes the project great. You absolutely need to give "Elevated Ethics Vol. 2" a spin, or three, and elevate your mind.

Keep up with R.I.K. VIITH on social media

Listen: R.I.K. VIITH - Elevated Ethics Vol. 2

UllNevaNo & Jumbled - 86 Draft

Baltimore natives UlNevaNo and Jumbled plan to release an EP titled "The Ghost of Len Bias" soon, their new track 86 Draft is, fittingly, the first single from the project. The concept of the project is immediately intriguing and UllNevaNo's classic rap style atop Jumbled's production make us interested to hear what the pair has up their sleeves.

Keep up with UllNevaNo and Jumbled via social media and keep an eye out for the EP

Listen: UllNevaNo & Jumbled - 86 Draft

Happy Sunday. Keep sending your dope creations to submissions@hustlegrade.com

We will be announcing the performance line-up tomorrow for SUBMISSION SUNDAYS LIVE on August 27th; we hope to see you there!

SUBMISSION SUNDAYS: VOLUME 14

It's Sunday!

Every Sunday the Hustlegrade staff posts submissions that were sent to our email.

Enjoy the 14th volume of Submission Sundays and come back next Sunday for more.

Also, feel free to submit any and everything dope to us via submissions@hustlegrade.com

Check out some cool shots of our last SUBMISSION SUNDAYS LIVE below, after you listen to all of this dope music!

Last MC - Microwave Minutes Vol. 1

A slow, distinct flow and refreshing content make Houston's Last MC an artist you should be paying attention to. His latest release, "Microwave Minutes Vol. 1" consists of seven tracks, no features, a Paper Planes sample and a LOT of great rapping with a noticeably clear, impressive delivery.  Production on the project (courtesy of Karapetrov Beats, Luke White, The Philosopher ShowOffBeats) is consistently clean, allowing Last MC to flex his lyricism. "Microwave Minutes Vol. 1" really doesn't have any bad moments and it should be mentioned how cohesive and lucid it is from start to finish. If you are short on time, listen to GODS or Westheimer first, because then you will want to listen to the rest for sure.

Keep up with Last MC and his music via social media.

Listen: Last MC - Microwave Minutes Vol. 1

Dylan Cohl - Death Proof EP

Port Arthur, Texas native, Houston based artist Dylan Cohl really has something with his latest release "Death Proof EP". With just six tracks, "Death Proof EP" showcases Cohl's skills on both the lyrical and production sides. Only a few names other than Cohl's appear throughout "Death Proof EP", including Xtolph, Wolfe de Mchls and Suraj Busari with production credits and Easy Yves Saint makes up the lone artist feature. Cohl's lyrical content finds a perfect balance between introspection and full out boasting while his smooth cadence allows him to float over the (mostly self produced) backdrop. If you need one song to check out first, Look At Me  or Summers End

Check out more from Dylan Cohl via his social media.

Listen: Dylan Cohl - Death Proof EP

Roy O. - Fluorescent ft. Hot Peez

Ok so just go listen to this song. right now. Last week, Roy O. and Hot Peez released a ridiculously dope bounce track, Fluorescent, and the kicker is, they are REALLY rapping on it. Fluorescent is everything you need in your life that you didn't even know about. The hook is perfection, the verses are fire and no day party should pass without this track blessing the speakers. As different as Roy O. and Hot Peez's flows are, they complement each other impeccably on Fluorescent. With the release of his next project, "OVIE" around the corner, Roy O. really amped up the anticipation thanks to Fluorescent.

Follow Roy O. on social media and look out for his new project!

Listen: Roy O. Fluorescent ft. Hot Peez

Noah Nova - Crew (Remix) ft. Izzar Thomas & Ian Alxnder

Two of our favorite artists, Noah Nova and Izzar Thomas teamed up with a new found gem Ian Alxnder for remix to Goldlink's Crew that everyone should listen to. We know when a track is dope, you may be hesitant to check out a remix but trust us on this one! Ian Alxnder absolutely killed the hook (which was immediately impressive because Brent Faiyaz is a beast), Izzar Thomas lent his one-of-a-kind flow and slight croon to the cause and as expected, Noah Nova held down the core of the track with his dynamic lyricism. Remixes are a fun part of music, and Noah Nova put together a really dope spin on an already great track. Plus, everyone on the track is from Houston and you know we love to brag about that!

Keep up with Noah Nova on social media.

Listen: Noah Nova - Crew (Remix) ft. Izzar Thomas & Ian Alxnder

Devante - Trill Ones

Devante, FKA Envy Hunter, never lets us down. Not only is he one of Hustlegrade's favorite artists, he keeps showing and proving to be a lyrical force. Devante's newest release "Trill Ones" takes a different look at a being trill. As always, Devante uses his quick lyrics and unique perspective to explain what he believes trill truly is, and takes a couple pokes at those who keep misrepresenting trill. Constantly separating himself from the typical rapper, Devante says "I get 10 on 5, I work a 9 to 5. I got a daughter now so that's bill money." With production from Lix1000 and LexTheComrade set perfectly to Devante's quick flow, "Trill Ones" is everything you didn't even know you needed.

Keep up with Devante on social media.

Listen: Devante - Trill Ones

Denaron - Want Dat ft. BeatKing

This combination was unexpected and great; Denaron teamed up with fellow Houstonian BeatKing for "Want Dat". The catchy R&B club song will definitely grace a few strip clubs in it's climb to greatness but, Denaron's soulful vocals ensure that "Want Dat" will not be marginalized to JUST a strip club track. There is cool contrast between Denaron's "R&B Gentleman" demeanor and BeatKings's "Club Godzilla" style that works perfectly. After you check out "Want Dat" below, take a listen to Denaron's latest project La Luxure

Find more from Denaron at www.denaronmusic.com

Listen: Denaron - Want Dat ft. BeatKing

Video: Hogg Booma - Us

We wrote in depth about Hogg Booma's Turn Up 4 A Bag project and if you haven't heard it, go listen. Now. Since the release of the project, Hogg has dropped some amazing visuals, the latest one for "Us". Directed by Lil Justin, the crisp, bright visuals show a love affair that is all too familiar. Despite leading a life not so conducive for a healthy love life, Hogg and his lady end up together, every time. Between Hogg's crooning and the ridiculously dope guitar solo towards the end, the visuals for "Us" are something everyone needs in their life.

The newest release from Laer Aggin and MOJO is the syrupy, trance inducing Give It Back. Perfect for a night of turning up or hitting a smooth shoulder shimmy in the bathroom at your house, Bring It Back features a great balance of trap, stunting and some singing.

Follow Laer Aggin and MOJO on social media.

Listen: Laer Aggin x MOJO  Give It Back

Video: Dwayne Keys & A.C. Gutta - Avenue

Take a seat at the Cool Table with Dwayne keys & A.C. Gutta on their latest release, Avenue. While you're at it, make sure you check out the visuals courtesy of Tru Films. The laid back homage to hustling and Houston is everything you need on your summer playlist. Keys and Gutta both flow so naturally over the southern sounding production supplied by A.C. Gutta, himself. It should also be noted that the way that Keys floats on the hook is amazing.

Keep up with Dwayne Keys & A.C. Gutta on social media.

Stream Avenue on i Tunes.

Watch: Dwayne Keys & A.C. Gutta - Avenue

Flyger Woods x Vonte Heights - See Us

Houston's own Flyger Woods and Vonte Heights came together recently for See Us. The two artists lyrically tackle the reality of being uncompromising black men in today's world. The hard hitting bars and catchy hook alongside Scott FallZ production create the perfect canvas for what some may refer to as a "conscious" rap song; in reality it is simply a stark look at what life really entails. Somewhere betwen turning up and just surviving, you'll find Flyger Woods and Vonte Heights' See Us.

Check out Flyger Woods and Vonte Heights array of great music.

Listen: Flyger Woods & Vonte Heights - See Us

Lyssa - Joyride, Who I Be & Sorcery

From Houston to Atlanta to Los Angeles, Lyssa has been discovering herself and her own unique sound; with the release of "Joyride", "Who I Be" and "Sorcery", Lyssa shows us what she has found. Lyssa uses her captivating vocals to provide an unadulterated look into being an unmovable force, a woman, in a weird world. The three tracks come in preparation for the release of her upcoming EP Feel Me 2. Look forward to more music from Lyssa as she releases new music every Friday as part of her ongoing #FeelMeFridays series. You can get a deeper look into Lyssa and her music via IBTS, her YouTube series.

Seano Phresh - Toast ft. Jay-Von

Picture My Vision's Seano Phresh recently welcomed a brand new baby into the world, congratulations to him! Perfect timing to his newest track with fellow PMV artist Jay-Von, "Toast". The quick, fun track is laced with the always hard-hitting lyrics from Seano and Von, both. Seano has a unique flow that everyone should definitely take notice of. Check out "Toast" now and enjoy a drink for all the things we forget to be thankful for. Also look out for the Picture My Vision mixtape, hosted by Kels featuring the whole PMV crew!

Follow Seano Phresh on social media.

AceKidd - Bounce Back

Sometimes, you have to brag a little bit. That's exactly what the typically humble, introspective AceKidd did on his latest release "Bounce Back". Ace flosses his top notch lyricism atop minimalist production that allows for him to fully flourish. The Houston native channels a true, Houston sound with his own unique style of hip hop. Check out the latest from AceKidd and don't forget that we all can bounce back.

Keep up with AceKidd on social media.

TAME, The Aspiring Me - Glow

Remember everybody who told you that you were going to be broke? Thanks to TAME, The Aspiring Me and his newest release Glow, you have something to share with them. The Houston native mixes his relentless energy and lyricism with laid back, wavy production for the perfect "A-HA, I win" track. Take some time to appreciate your own glow and use TAME's Glow for your soundtrack.

Keep up with TAME, The Aspiring Me on social media.

Listen: TAME, The Aspiring Me - Glow

Terrance Brown - Rydah

Terrance Brown seems to be perfecting a completely new sound that represents what comes from classic Louisiana bounce influence and a young, fresh rock star lifestyle. Brown's newest release Rydah is the first single from his upcoming album TRAPSLAPS which is sure to catch everyone's attention. Word is that TRAPSLAPS will include production from Zaytoven, Spaceghost, Terrance Brown himself and more.  Rydah is a daunting, slow track that somehow makes you want to flips tables and what not. While Brown does some syrupy singing on Rydah, he takes plenty of time to flex his lyrical abilities as well.

Keep up with Terrance Brown on social media and look out for his upcoming releases.

Stream/download Rydah on iTunes here.

Listen: Terrance Brown - Rydah

LeRoi $inatra - Never Falling Again

Ok so, do y'all want bars? Here. Come get them. Houston artist LeRoi $inatra provides all the bars on Never Falling Again. This emotionally transparent track deserves at least 3 or 4 back to back plays, right now. Somewhere between sheer bravado and introspection you will find LeRoi $inatra and Never Falling Again. After hearing this one, it is pretty hard to stop yourself from finding more dope music from LeRoi $inatra. Take some time to reflect on reality and talk some shit with Never Falling Again.

Follow LeRoi $inatra on social media.

Listen: LeRoi $inatra - Never Falling Again

NTheClouds - WYCMH

Houston hip-hop duo NTheClouds recently released WYCMH. Along with production from The Others, Boi Dru and Jay Kell go back and forth showing the different perspectives of the communication decisions everyone seems to make when they are under the influence. Whether you are making or receiving that kind of call, WYCMH will get your attention and probably hit a couple nerves because, accuracy. Either way, WYCMH is a really dope, mood setting track. Here's to hoping you don't get hit with a "new phone, who dis?" anytime soon.

Keep up with NTheClouds on social media.

Listen: NTheClouds - WYCMH

Rob Gullatte - My Own Way

Rob Gullatte's newest release My Own Way is an "in case you forgot Rob Gullatte can really rap" reminder. My Own Way, the first single off Gullatte's upcoming release "Gullactic Visions" is so Houston and so amazing; not to mention it represents a lyrical walk with Gullatte through some of the times that shaped him as an artist and a person. Possibly the dopest part of My Own Way is the raw honesty that Gullatte left on every second of it. Production, supplied by Donnie Houston, frames Gullatte's intense rapping perfectly. My Own Way is your theme song if you had plenty of chances to conform but chose otherwise. There are also additional vocals from Note on My Own Way and all of it together is perfection.

Keep up with Rob Gullatte on social media and look out for his upcoming album release!

JohnFugginDough - Sho Nuff

Houston resident by way of New Orleans, JohnFugginDough took to the beach for his newest video Sho Nuff. shot by iRise Films. Dough's quick lyricism seems to be the greatest rebuttal for the doubtful lady at the center of Sho Nuff. This smooth, summery track touches on the realities of being an artist, trying to blow up and maintain some sort of balance in life. And it sounds really good. We are definitely looking forward to hearing more out of JohnFugginDough.

Stream Sho Nuff here.

Watch: JohnFugginDough - Sho Nuff

80Rounds - Grapevine

80Rounds, comprised of HOUSEOVAKERS (or Yoda) and Guss, recently released Grapevine, a slow, syrupy, super lyrical showing of confidence that is bound to get stuck in your head. The hook on Grapevine rides so perfectly, just trust us.

Keep up with HOUSEOVAKERS and Guss via social media and make sure you check out one of their live shows!

Listen: 80Rounds - Grapevine

Amaru - La La

With the promise of an upcoming album *eeek* singer/songwriter/all around dope musician Amaru sent us his newest song La La. The track feels like love at Woodstock and everyone should add it to their summer playlist, then keep it throughout the rest of the seasons. Amaru and his team really put something beautiful together with La La and the album he is working on is sure to be amazing.

Keep up with Amaru on social media, check out one of his live shows and watch out for his album!

Listen: Amaru - La La

Tdmoney - Southside Thoughts ft. Zaria

If you are looking for some pure, dope rapping, take a look at Egypt, Texas's own Tdmoney and his track Thoughts featuring Zaria. The simple production pairs seamlessly with Tdmoney's quick southern bars.  From start to end, Thoughts offers plenty of things to keep you up at night pondering. Plus the hook is great, Southside.

Follow Tdmoney on social media.

Listen: Tdmoney - Southside Thoughts ft. Zaria

Nique - Sunnyside Zoo

Since releasing an album, a playlist and a new video, Nique has not slowed down. Sunnyside Zoo, an ode to Nique's stomping grounds, is the second video from the recently released playlist from Nique, "HSATB

The trippy visuals for Sunnyside Zoo offer a look into Nique's mind. Paired his exuberant lyrical abilities and the way he floated over the haunting production, Sunnyside Zoo is something everyone needs to hear and watch.

Jett I Masstyr - Early Service

Jett I Masstyr is taking everyone to church with his latest instrumental offering, Early Service. The 7 track EP  features a unique combination of soul and gospel that only Jett I Masstyr can create. Influence by his days at Brentwood Baptist Church, Early Service is something to behold. Some dope southern (Houston!!) artists need to get with him about these tracks, so that we may all be blessed two times over. Amen.
Early Service is available on iTunes/Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp, Tidal, Google Play, & more.
Keep up with Jett I Masstyr via social media and listen to Early Service, below.

Video: My'Key Iso - G.O.M.D. (Iso Version)

My'Key Iso took J. Cole's G.O.M.D. and turned it into something so Houston and so amazing that words don't even do it justice. Aside from the sheer greatness if Iso's flow, the content he conveys in his version of G.O.M.D. is relevant and necessary. As if all that were not enough, the visuals are something to behold. We could go on and on about how dope this track is but we suggest you go watch the video. Now.

Then go follow My'Key Iso on social media and take a listen to his SoundCloud, trust us.

BreakItDownDC - Black Heart

BreakItDownDC recently released "Panoramic Pink" (which you can find here) and one track, Black Heart is so dope that we wanted to remind everyone.

Somewhere between a love song and a FDB song, Black Heart pairs simple, acoustically perfect production with DC's catchy crooning and lyrics. Pretty much, Black Heart is amazing. Go listen to it.

Follow BreakItDownDC on social media and go get "Panoramic Pink"

Listen: BreakItDownDC - Black Heart

Video: Izzar Thomas - H.M.O.M.L. ft. Tim Woods

If you are looking for a "summer anthem" or whatever the cool kids call it, Izzar Thomas and Tim Woods came together for H.M.O.M.L. and both the track and the video are perfect for your summertime greatness.

The visuals, directed by Tazer, are simple enough that everyone can relate and fancy enough that you wish you would have been there when it was filmed. Because life is about balance. H.M.O.M.L. needs to be added to your playlist, NOW.

Follow Izzar Thomas on social media and keep up with his work. Watch the video for H.M.O.M.L. below.

ONE - Lead The Way ft. Shun Ward

Houston artists have been responsible for some of the coolest love songs ever, ok? ONE recently released one of those cool love songs, Lead The Way featuring Shun Ward. ONE's smooth, southern lyricism and Ward's one of a kind vocals combine for a truly Houston, heartfelt offering of love and uh, other things. Jam this with the windows down sometime this summer. Fall in love or whatever.

Go follow ONE on social media and check out his SoundCloud to stream Lead the Way and more.

Listen: ONE - Lead the Way ft. Shun Ward

$hun - '09 Jams

Houston's $hun recently released '09 Jams, the first single from his newest EP, "Will Rap 4 A Way Outta Here". (You can find the entire EP here.) $hun flexes his lyricism skills over the airy, 9th Wonder produced track. There is a beat change about one minute and a half in that almost made me throw my laptop, in a good way. '09 Jams is another example of showcasing multiple influences without simply copying. $hun should be on your watch list, for sure.

Follow $hun on social media and listen to '09 Jams below.

That is it for our weekly tithes and offerings.

Make sure you keep sending us dope music via submissions@hustlegrade.com

Also, we are excited about our next #SubmissionSundaysLIVE - June 25th at Alley Kat Bar & Lounge! We will announce the performers closer to the show date. Remember you HAVE to send submissions to the email address above and be posted in the month of June to be considered to perform!

Hustlegrade Submission Sundays Process

First and foremost we want to show an immense amount of appreciation to every artist who has submitted to our website; thank you for sharing your art with us.

PLEASE keep sending your art to submissions@hustlegrade.com

To clarify, we want art of all kinds; there are no limits to what Hustlegrade wants to post and support.

That being said, this post is specifically intended to clarify our submissions process as well as the format for Hustlegrade’s Submission Sundays LIVE events.

So, here we go.

(By the way, we are going to carry on henceforth like June is the beginning of Submission Sundays… Don’t hit us like “but last month..”, stop living in the past, ok?)

When we started Submission Sundays it was our way of sharing the creative dopeness we receive. Hustlegrade limits submission posts to once weekly. The purpose behind this is to allow a space for underground/independent artists’ music to have a platform without inundating our audience with overwhelming amounts of content. It is our belief that a specific place and time for submissions to be posted offers optimum visibility and benefit for the artists.

Submission Sundays via Hustlegrade.com Consideration Process

To keep things current and eliminate any bias, Hustlegrade will be considering submissions monthly. For example, submissions we receive in June will be considered for posting on the website ONLY in the month of June. (Due to calendars and dates and blah blah, music submitted after the LAST SUNDAY of any month will be considered with the following month’s submissions)

Here is a date breakdown: if you submit (or have submitted) to Hustlegrade between June 1 and June 25, your submission is considered as part of June submissions. If you submit anywhere between June 25 and July 30, your submissions will be considered as part of July submissions. And so on, and so forth.

Hustlegrade clears ALL submissions at the end of every month, each new month is essentially a blank slate. If you submit and do not get posted (or if you submit and do get posted, hell) feel free to submit new content as often as you would like.

Ok now let’s talk about the live shows…

#SubmissionSundaysLIVE Consideration Process

Hustlegrade is excited and more than thankful for the opportunity to bring our Submission Sundays content to the stage with #SubmissionSundaysLIVE

While we would love to put each and every artist on a stage that we post on our website, logistically this is impossible (for now, at least). As a team we have worked to put a process into place that is both fair to artists and aligned with Hustlegrade’s mission statement and vision.

Submission Sundays LIVE performers are chosen monthly. All artists posted via hustlegrade.com as part of Submission Sundays are automatically considered to perform at the live show. As a team, we list every artist posted throughout the month and take a vote, choosing 4 artists to perform each month.

Due to the necessity of preparing for a live show, the date breakdown is a LITTLE different than the posting process. To ensure an organized and well put together live show, we must cut off considerations for the live show THE MONDAY BEFORE #SubmissionSundaysLIVE, each month.

Here is a date breakdown: if your art is posted to hustlegrade.com between June 1 and June 18, you are considered for performance in June. If your art is posted between June 25 and July 24, your submissions will be considered for performance in July. And so on, and so forth.

Is that confusing? No? Ok.
We will update everyone monthly with submission deadlines, etc. Because we love you. You’re welcome.

One more thing, this is important: ONLY MUSIC SUBMITTED VIA SUBMISSIONS@HUSTLEGRADE.COM WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR POSTING AND LIVE PERFORMANCES.

Hustlegrade currently hosts the only STRICTLY submission based live show in Houston (possibly in the world, Craig) and in order to ensure our processes are on the up and up, music submitted outside of the aforementioned cannot be considered.

If ANY of this doesn’t make sense and you are serious about submitting/performing, contact Kels via email kels@hustlegrade.com

Again, thank you for being dope and keep sending us all of your amazing art!

Oh and check back later today for our newest Submission Sundays post!

SUBMISSION SUNDAYS LIVE!

So many dope artists submit their music to Hustlegrade, and we want to show some appreciation for that. The first installment of Submission Sundays Live was something to behold, the artists even got together for an amazing track after the show.

Tonight, Sunday May 21, the Hustlegrade team and four Houston based artists will be at Alley Kat for the second installment of Submission Sundays Live!

Taking the time to submit music to media outlets is a necessary evil of building a career as an artist. All that work should amount to something when you are making quality art, right?

Thanks to some really dope people in our city including Alley Kat Bar & Lounge and The Waxaholics, Hustlegrade has the pleasure of taking those submission emails to the stage.

Strictly based on submission emails we have received, Hustlegrade is happy to present:

SUBMISSION SUNDAYS LIVE
featuring

Come out and bring a friend to Alley Kat Bar & Lounge (3718 Main St.) TONIGHT, May 21 to hear some great music; we will be upstairs starting at 7pm.

Whether the artists are familiar or new to you, they are sure to impress. Special shoutout to Yobi Yobz for providing the sounds for the night and being a dope part of the Hustlegrade family. Also we have JayOnDrums with us on the drums adding even more dope vibes!

"T!M NED" The EP

Houston based (by way of Ft. Worth) L.O.U.D. Muzik artist T!M NED has a pretty impressive track record; including his newest release T!M NED The EP. It is hard to believe that the self-titled EP is Ned's debut release considering all the work he has done in the industry but, he definitely came out of the gates swinging with this one. With a dope concoction of Houston influence and his own unique flow Ned put together 8 tracks of greatness.

There are some really dope features on T!M NED The EP including Cam Wallace on "Can You Hear Me Now", one of the stand-out tracks. Also, go listen to "My Life" a few times while riding around the city with the windows down and pay homage to Houston without being cliche. Also, "Can't Stop Flexxin" with Fat Pimp should help get you through the summer. There is a Lil' O reference on the album, just go listen to it. Trust me.

Listen to T!M NED The EP on Spotify.

Prince Obi - PDUB

Prince Obi's "PDUB" randomly happened across social media and into our submissions email because, look at God. There is not a whole lot to say about it except, go listen to it. Now. Like right now. "PDUB" is one of those songs that you will find yourself singing throughout the day. Keep an eye on Obi as well, we hear he has some more dopeness up his sleeve!

Listen: Prince Obi - PDUB

J.O. Mairs - WISHES

Mississauga artist J.O. Mairs (FKA Kemikal) dropped some fire with "WISHES". The self-produced track lays a simplistic backdrop perfect for Mairs' quick, hard-hitting flow. There's a great show of personality on "WISHES" as Mairs' seamlessly transitions between cadences and voice inflections. Keep this one on repeat for awhile and check back for new releases from J.O. Mairs; as for us we can't wait to hear more.

Listen: J.O. Mairs - WISHES or stream via Spotify

Nique - HSATB

"A playlist. Not a mixtape. A playlist." That is how Sunnyside, Houston native Nique describes his newest release HSATB (a little birdy told us it stands for Houston strippers are the best, by the way)

While HSATB is not an actual mixtape, Nique definitely did not take it easy or hold back on any of the tracks. As a matter of fact, Nique shows impressive progress from his November 2016 release Dazed & Confused, which was a dope project itself. It is pretty obvious that Nique is only getting better as an artist. HSATB is fun but don't take it lightly; each of the 6 tracks hold their weight lyrically and sonically. Long story short, HSATB jams. Go listen to it and watch the video for "Hold Something", one of the stand-out tracks on the playlist. Check out Dazed & Confused as well and keep up with Nique.

Listen: Nique - HSATB

Watch: Nique - Hold Something

Listen: Papa G - Everyday We Lit Freestyle

That is it for our weekly tithes and offerings.

BUT BEFORE YOU GO..... a quick Save The Date Announcement

Make sure you keep sending us dope music.

SUBMISSION SUNDAYS: VOLUME 7

Time for Sunday Service. Er, we mean, Submission Sundays!

Every Sunday, the Hustlegrade staff posts submissions that were sent to our email.
Enjoy the seventh volume of Submission Sundays and come back next Sunday for more.

Also, feel free to submit any and everything dope to us via submissions@hustlegrade.com

As we proceed...

O.N.E. - At Bay

Houston's own O.N.E. does some lyrical flexing while throwing out plenty of useful advice on "At Bay". With his smooth southern flow and no holds barred content, O.N.E. has yet to disappoint. This track may not have JUST been released but the words are timeless.

After you enjoy "At Bay", trust us, you will enjoy it, follow O.N.E. on SoundCloud and check out his recent releases!

Listen: O.N.E. - At Bay

RetroKash - Juice

Houston based artist by was of Louisiana, RetroKash recently released Rajun Cajun

Earlier this month RetroKash dropped visuals for "Juice", one of the tracks found on Rajun Cajun. "Juice" is a celebratory, fun cut that visually and sonically pays homage to his hometown. "Juice" is perfect to pre-game or stand on the couch in the club to. Turn it up in your car and remind yourself you got the juice.

Make sure you go check out Rajun Cajun. And honestly, let us all take a moment to appreciate the album artwork, too. Enjoy the video for"Juice" below.

Watch: RetroKash - Juice

BREAKITDOWNDC - DOCTOR ft. Kringe

This post was originally going to feature BREAKITDOWNDC's newest album Panoramic Pink (which is super dope, go listen to it) but then, the video for "DOCTOR" happened. The visuals, shot and directed by Barf Media, feature a bando and a Breaking Bad level cook house within the first minute. Somebody ends up in a car trunk, it's great.

But on a serious note, the lyricism in "DOCTOR" is great and the dramatic visuals lend to the pretty dark premise of the track.

After you watch BREAKITDOWNDC's "DOCTOR" video, go listen to Panoramic Pink via iTunes or Spotify

Watch: BREAKITDOWNDC - DOCTOR ft. Kringe

Donny Luche - Front Porch

Port Arthur native Donny Luche released Reconstruction earlier this year and today we wanted to share "Front Porch" with you.

The soulful production and Luche's classic hip-hop flow come together for the perfect track. "Front Porch" is a dope look into the thoughts running through Luche's head on a day like today, teetering between flaunting self-awareness and vocalizing harsh realities, Luche makes a round thru the entire spectrum of life in this track. And, well it sounds really dope.

After you finish with "Front Porch" (it's okay to listen to it at least 12 times in a row by the way) go check out Reconstruction here

Listen: Donny Luche - Front Porch

That wraps up our weekly offering.

Make sure you keep sending us dope music.

We will be doing more Submission Sunday LIVE events as well so keep the emails coming - submissions@hustlegrade.com

Happy Sunday.

Let's go!

Reginald Gohnson - Bomb Raps & Throwbacks

We missed 4/20 by a couple days but, hey; Reginald Gohnson recently released Bomb Raps & Throwbacks with the promise of much more music to come.

Trust us, this project is dope (pun kind of intended) Bomb Raps & Throwbacks features a few familiar names including George Young - who lended both a verse and production greatness - Mike Red, Tony Delfreshco, Kab the Don and C.I.T.Y..  While Bomb Raps & Throwbacks is perfect to smoke to, it is much more than a "stoner" album, case in point "Revolution" featuring C.I.T.Y., the name is self-explanatory and it is definitely a stand out track on the project. The "Devil in a New Dress" freestyle is also a must listen as well as "Acres Home". Honestly just start from the beginning and enjoy. Lyrical skills are absolutely flexed all throughout Bomb Raps & Throwbacks. Keep up with Reginald Gohnson to see what he has up his sleeve for the rest of the year.

Listen: Reginald Gohnson - Bomb Raps & Throwbacks

Video: Deezy Da Duce - Where I'm From

After the release of his first official mixtape, Who Better, Deezy Da Duce, of Beaumont, TX, has since dropped visuals for his track “Where I’m From”. The soulful, lyrically hard-hitting track is accompanied perfectly by the quick moving visual that follow Deezy around his hometown while he raps about his life there. Produced by Chase Racc$ (Beaumont, TX), mixed by DJ SpaceCity (Houston, TX), "Where I'm From" has an old-school southern feel and Trill Art (Port Arthur, TX) brought the whole thing to life with him filming and editing skills. All together, the final product shows that home is home, no matter where it is. "Where I'm From" is oh so Texas and we love it. Keep up with Deezy Da Duce here for more releases.

Listen to Who Better here and watch "Where I'm From" below.

Episode XX - Virtual Reality Caravan Podcast

Houston's own T.H.E.M. are up to the 20th episode of their podcast "Virtual Reality Caravan" the artists bring on industry folks, fellow artists and just generally knowledgeable and interesting guests to discuss a great array of subjects.

The latest episode of Virtual Reality Caravan features guests Devaughn Douglas and Todd FKA Cristolph and focuses on Kendrick Lamar's latest album DAMN. From analysis to review of the album as well as comparisons between DAMN and the rest of K.Dot's discography, this is definitely a great listen for anyone who enjoys hip-hop/music discussions.

Listen to Episode XX - Virtual Reality Caravan Podcast below and share with a friend

Papa G - Humble Freestyle

As part of his new endeavor, Squalla Saturday, Papa G just dropped his Humble Freestyle and it lives up to all of our expectations of Papa both lyrically and stunt-level wise. Papa has yet to let us down so we look forward to more of his Saturday freestyles, he is definitely making this rap shit fun again and rapping VERY well. Keep up with Papa G to catch every freestyle of Squalla Saturdays.

Listen: Papa G - Humble Freestyle

Kung Fu Kenny vs. Drizzy: A Playlist by Jay-Von

Once again, Jay-Von has supplied us with a dope playlist. This time, Von goes all the way in with over 60 songs making up more than 5 hours of Kendrick Lamar vs. Drake. From the oldest releases in the mega-rappers' catalogs to their newest releases, Von takes the best of their music and puts it head to head. You NEED to listen to this playlist, the song for song duel will have you ready to pick a winner and maybe argue with your friends. Check back frequently for more playlists from Jay-Von.

Video: Hogg Booma - Soul Bleed

With another dope visual, Hogg Booma gets personal in the video for his latest track "Soul Bleed". Directed and edited by B-Luce, the stark visuals complement the content of the track perfectly. "Soul Bleed" is a look into the reality Hogg lives with and take inspiration from for his music. An amazing follow up release to his newest project Turn Up 4 A Bag(oh we wrote about the album too) "Soul Bleed" definitely needs to be added to your regular rotation. Follow Hogg Booma and go check out all his music, trust us. Watch the video for "Soul Bleed" below.

Watch: Hogg Booma - Soul Bleed

That wraps up our Volume 6 of Submission Sundays.

Make sure you keep sending us dope music. We will be doing more Submission Sunday LIVE events as well so keep the emails coming - submissions@hustlegrade.com

Here we go...

Chucky McFly - Respect My Brush

Ok so, this project came out a little while ago but, it's dope. And we got it in our submissions email. Chucky McFly floated all up and down the entirety of Respect My Brush. From the second you hear HOV speaking about works of art in the intro to the last second of "The Testimony", this is something everyone needs to hear. "Heart of the City" in itself is worth you listening to a couple of times. When you think of music that is truly inspired by Houston but doesn't feel forced or played out, Chucky McFly made that with Respect My Brush. There is a perfect balance of introspective lyricism, sangin' and shit talking. Go listen to it.

Listen: Chucky McFly - Respect My Brush

JamesCurtis - Goodnight, Goodnight

JamesCurtis, a young artist out of Houston, feels that he has a lot to prove. With his latest release, "Goodnight, Goodnight" Curtis tells of his big plans to takeover the city and make some moves in the industry. Everybody needs a good dose of flossin in their life and this track is perfect for that. Listen to "Goodnight, Goodnight" below and make sure you keep up with James Curtis to see what he has up his sleeve. Oh. and he produced the track too.

Listen: JamesCurtis - Goodnight, Goodnight

HRUANKM - Southern Naga 13Love Story

Dallas, Texas based artist HRUANKM recently released his debut full length LP, Southern Naga 13Love Story. The 13 track project was produced in it's entirety by AmaruAlmighty13.

HRUANKM effortlessly transitions between singing and rapping. With organic production and well-rounded lyricism, Southern Naga 13Love Story is a perfect listen for a Sunday or honestly, any day. Go check it out.

Listen: HRUANKM - Southern Naga 13Love Story

Mike Checc - Recollect ft. King Khayno & YGN Tadoe

Houston's own Mike Checc teamed up with King Khayno and YGN Tadoe for his latest release, "Recollect". The fast-paced track produced by Baker Yung comes straight for heads from the very first second. With Mike Checc's ever hard-hitting flow and lyricism along with Khayno and Tadoe take "Recollect" to a dope level of real rap and the hook is definitely one that will get in and stay in your head for awhile. Keep up with Mike Checc as he promises a video for "Recollect" and even an upcoming album.

Listen: Mike Checc - Recollect ft. King Khayno & YGN Tadoe

Envy Hunter - Still On It ft. Mayalino & C-Struggs

Resized_Still_On_It_single.jpeg

Houston's own Envy Hunter never left but in case you were wondering, he still has it. Envy teamed up with Mayalino and C-Struggs for his latest release "Still On It", in case you were wondering if he was on it. He is, by the way. As always, the track is lyrically hard-hitting and a true fan of hip-hop's dream. Go listen to it! And keep up with Envy, we just know he has some dope things coming up.

Listen: Envy Hunter - Still On It ft. Mayalino & C-Struggs

Video: Sean Lexima - Formula

Get familiar with Sean Lexima out of Lufkin, Texas. Lexima recently dropped the video for the first single, "Formula" from his upcoming album And Then, This Happened.

Sean Lexima flexes his lyrical ability over psychedelic production from Keelon Donnel. The visuals for "Formula", filmed and edited by OwtAndAbout, kind of feel like Breaking Bad if Heisenberg could rap. Everything from the lyrics to the visuals work together well, go watch it!

Watch: Sean Lexima - Formula

Mickey Woods Jr. - These Days

These Days (Cover).JPG

Houston based artist, by way of Port Arthur, Mickey Woods Jr. recently blessed our ears with "These Days". The soulful, moving track is the second in a series of seven track releases Mickey has planned. If you are familiar with Mickey and his work, you will definitely enjoy "These Days" and if he is a new artist on your radar, make sure you listen! Both the production and lyrics of "These Days" will make you a fan.

Listen: Mickey Woods Jr. - These Days

Once you finish enjoying "These Days" (we know you will enjoy it) go check out more of Mickey's music here. It is all dope.

Keep up with Mickey via IG for updates as well.

Jay-Von - Free Smoke Freestyle

You should be familiar with Jay-Von, by now. If you aren't, check out his "Free Smoke Freestyle". Von's newest release is yet another example of how lyrically talented and often slept on the Houston rapper is. Don't exclude him from you next "best of" list!

Keep up with Jay-Von, there is sure to be more and more dope music from him.

Listen: Jay-Von - Free Smoke Freestyle

Gee - Trilla Gee

Hailing from Polk County, Florida, Gee recently released Trilla Gee. The 16 track project is entirely produced by Gee himself and has very few features. With quick, witty lyricism and organic production Trilla Gee is a great example of real rap music, and it is oh so southern.

Stand Out Tracks:
Character
Hero of The Night
From the Inside Out
Sing Along ft. Young Brahma
Find The Time

Listen: Gee - Trilla Gee

Keep up with Gee here for more new music!

Submission Sundays: Volume 3

I been waiting for you for the whole week. I been praying for you, you're my Sunday Candy...

Every Sunday, the Hustlegrade staff will be posting submissions.
Enjoy the third volume of Submission Sundays and come back next Sunday for more.
Also, feel free to submit any and everything dope to us via submissions@hustlegrade.com

Let's get to it!

Yobi Yobz Presents: B.O.M.B.S. Vol 3

Hustlegrade family member and super dope DJ Yobi Yobz is back on his bulls*t with B.O.M.B.S. Vol 3.

If you are heading to a function or need a soundtrack for the turn up, look no further! I have to admit I didn't know most of the songs featured on Yobi's 48 minute mix but, it didn't stop me from making a stank face a couple times and turning it up. And up some more. With everything from Ye Ali, Travis Scott and Dice SoHo to Big Sean, Drake and Future, B.O.M.B.S. Vol 3 has a little bit of everything; all with a special dose of Yobi Yobz's one-of-a-kind DJ flare.

Go listen to B.O.M.B.S. Vol 3 from Yobi Yobz, here.

Official Video: J-Wall - Rebel

Adorned in a ski-mask and Colin Kaepernick jersey (and naturally The Waxaholics signature cap makes an appearance), Houston rapper J-Wall holds no punches in his newest video Rebel. The young artist out of Alief begins Rebel by saying "I love hip-hop. But it feel like to me, if you ain't J. Cole or if you ain't K-Dot, ain't nobody tryin to hear that, man. They ain't tryin to support it." J-Wall goes on to guarantee that he will continue to go against the grain, no matter what. From the barbershop to the streets, the visuals for Rebel take you into J-Wall's world and his stark lyricism paints a vivid picture of an all too familiar reality. Go watch the video. Seriously. And keep up with J-Wall.

Noah Nova - Long Time

Houston's own *ahem* excuse me, Mo City's own Noah Nova dropped a really dope project titled Changes not long ago. One of the stand-out tracks on Changes is "Long Time", a hard-hitting track with a sample from Lucy Rose's "Watch Over" that fades in and out perfectly.
